Baamiyan is one of the most well-known Chinese family restaurant chains in Japan.
At first, I avoided it, thinking “There’s probably not much cheese in Chinese food, but I’m still worried about hidden butter, condensed milk, or other dairy ingredients…”
However, after carefully checking the allergy information on their official website,
I was surprised to find plenty of dairy-free options, including many dishes my daughter enjoys!
We’ve visited Baamiyan several times now, and here are some dishes she could safely enjoy✨
🥟 My Daughter’s Favorites
- Steamed Soup Dumplings (3 pcs)
- Mapo Rice (excluding the soup)
- Fried Noodles with Shrimp
She was amazed — “I didn’t know there were so many Chinese dishes I can eat!”
It was such a relief to discover another restaurant where we can all dine together as a family.
By the way, Baamiyan Ramen used to be dairy-free, but as of April 2025, it now contains milk.
This reminded us how important it is to regularly check allergen updates, even for familiar dishes.
🥗 Dim Sum & Dumplings
- “Mr. Chin’s” Whole Shrimp Steamed Dumplings (2 pcs)
- Wonton Plate
- Steamed Pork Shumai (5 pcs)
🍜 Main Dishes
- Shrimp in Chili Sauce
- Sweet & Sour Pork with Black Vinegar
- Fried Chicken with Scallion Sauce
- Musashino-Style Mapo Tofu
- Stir-Fried Beef with Green Peppers
- Twice-Cooked Pork
🍮 Desserts
- Lemon Jelly with Fruit Bits
- Sesame Dumplings
📝 Quick Note
Baamiyan provides detailed allergen information on their official website.
Each dish is clearly labeled for the presence of milk, egg, wheat, and other common allergens.
Staff are usually very kind and accommodating, so we recommend saying:
“My child has a dairy allergy. May I confirm the ingredients?”
Not all Chinese food is naturally milk-free, but we’re truly thankful for restaurants like this
that allow for informed and allergy-conscious dining choices.
We’ll continue our journey to discover more places where milk-free kids can eat with peace of mind 😊
